Pro tip WARNING! Be very careful when browsing around the Web and especially on public forums like Facebook... Depending on your search habits and technical experience sites like Facebook can be rife with scams, malware, misdirection and misinformation. For example, if while browsing a web link your computer pops up an urgent message and stops responding to your keyboard... Don't hesitate to call your own trusted support admin (not the one in the popup). Most of the time you can resolve this on your own press by holding the power button for at least 10 seconds to interrupt the offending script and by shutting down your computer completely (even if the offending script message often says to the contrary...). After restarting the affected computer you do not want to restore pages on the browser where you encountered the malware script or you will be right back where you started. The same will be true if you only put your computer to sleep. IF YOUR SCREEN IS FROZEN DO NOT CALL THE PHONE NUMBER... ). You are being scammed and they want your money. Scammers are as persuasive as the are dishonest. Although under normal circumstances you should not intentionally shut down your computer in this brute force manner... but for a legitimate emergency you may only have this option if you don't have the expertise to shut down the offending browser script when your computer becomes unresponsive to normal user input. An experienced user can stop the offending processes using the Task Manager without shutting down the computer. You do not want to shut down your computer in this way when a known (benign) operating system update is in progress. If in doubt always contact your trusted technical support resource. Use this pro-tip at your own risk. It is always your own responsibility to secure your financial data and computer resources. Make sure you backup critical data and create restore points often to recover quickly from unwanted intrusions. - The Webmaster
